This is my 101 post! How exciting is that! I didn't celebrate the 100th, b/c as I grew up my parents never gave just a 20 or 50 or whatever the amount was in cash, they always gave one more for good luck, so it was 21 or 51 dollars. So, here it is, the 101 post...it'll be good luck.
Here is a forward email I got from Corie (thanks Corie!) I thought it was a good read for all those who don't think about what they can really do in life and a good post for Post 101. Good luck!
The Buzzard, the Bat and the Bee
THE BUZZARD
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6' x 8' and is entirely
open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an
absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight
from the ground with a run of 10-12'. Without space to run, as is its
habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for
life in a small jail with no top.
THE BAT
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble
creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed
on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly
and painfully until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can
throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
THE BUMBLEBEE
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there
until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape
at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the
sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it
completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat and the
bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations,
never realizing that all we have to do is look up. Sorrow looks back,
worry looks around, but faith looks up.
May your troubles be less, your blessings more,
and may nothing but happiness come through your door.
That's all for now folks. Until later, always look up, sleep well, and try new food.

Sonal, it was great fun to read about Drake! I worked in the Admissions Office for a number of years; had been looking for info about the Cole Hall renovation when Google offered up your blog.
Interesting about the Buzzard/Bat/Bee and I do like the conclusion. However, I once chased a bat around the house and personally witnessed the little bugger crawling and hopping, then finally jumping into the air -- directly from the floor -- and taking wing. (For what it's worth...)
Hope you can post some more pics of the campus! It's wonderful to see Drake from different views.
