Living Summer

Yesterday I read The Giver. I know its not a very high level book, but the fact of the matter is that it seemed as though everyone had read it except me. I don't like to be left out of reading the classics so I had to pick it up and see what the big hype about it was. After the first chapter I knew. Although the reading is probably upper elementary, and possibly junior high, the content is very mature. I think this material is for people who understand how the world works or what it is that makes us who we are, which isn't necessarily for the younger crowd. The issues covered are quite controversial. I've never been very articulate with my wording, so I guess you have to read it to know what I mean. I did enjoy the read and was hooked to finish the book in the same day. It's an uber fast read so if you want to read it and haven't already, you should pick it up and read it.
I'm now reading The Davinci Code. I had this book since last summer but never had a chance to read it. The doesn't belong to me either, so I think I should be the trusted borrower, read the book and return it to my friend, Nikki. If anyone has any suggestions on what else I can read, please feel free to leave me comments so I know what's good. I have a few others in mind from high school that I never got a chance to read and would love to read, such as Pride and Prejudice and Of Mice and Men.

I was finally able to send my pictures to Wal-Mart so soon as I get those pictures I will be able to start the APO scrapbook. I hope it turns out amazingly.

I got a phone call from Greg last night. He's in Las Vegas and said that he felt awful, his lips were blue and his arms were numb, yet he was still out on the strip. He's going back home today. I hope for the sake of his health he decides to go to the doctor to get checked out. Being blue and numb isn't something I'd call normal.

Memorial Day weekend is almost here! My mom and I had planned to go somewhere for the weekend but now the forecast predicts showers the entire weekend! This is a bit of a bummer because I was really looking forward to going out of town, but all is well in the end because I think we're still going shopping.

This is a great segue to job hunting since I saw my bank balance last night! Have I stopped the search? Not really but I am getting a little fed up not being able to find anything. I feel like if I had stayed in Des Moines I would have more opportunities than here. Sure there are a lot of jobs here, especially because we're the hub of shopping, but at the same time there are so many more people here than in Des Moines too!I think my major problem is my experience. I never worked during high school, which is hurting me now. My main goal was school and still is, but finding a job is a tough cookie to overcome. My dad said I don't really need a job because I live at home, but I need the extra cash. Last time I filled my gas tank it cost $3.67 a gallon and its been rising since then. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck!

I think I'm going to go hunt a bit more now. Until later, take care!
