I have been one of the many non-native Des Moines people that say there isn't much to do in Des Moines...well, I've figured out that there is as long as you ask the locals! It is exactly what Rachel Ray says in one of her fifty shows. Greg and I discovered a local ice cream place called Bauders. Its about three buildings down from us and it has home-made ice cream at a really low cost, which is pretty amazing. We also discovered Farmers Market on Court Ave, the Art Festival that will take place this weekend, which is also located in Downtown. If Gray's Lake wasn't so flooded, there are usually summer night movies there for free! Funny Bone, which is in West Des Moines is only a dollar on Wednesday nights as long as you have your student ID with you! The Black Cat Cafe, which is right across the street from us as well has live bands every now and then. There are three malls in the area, and a Chipotle now by Valley West Mall! Also, the greatest invention that I am sure is available everywhere is the Red Box, usually located in Dahl's or McDonald's here. We get to rent movies for a dollar a night. I love it. The best place to look to find whats going on is Juice, the little blurb sheet that comes with the Des Moines Register.
Well, I'm off to bed.
Good night and sweet dreams!

The Black cat is a great place. I'm sure you guys will love the Ingersoll area. Make sure to check out my favorite Ingersoll dive - The Alpine.
