The Drake basketball game vs. Evansville was pretty much a clean sweep, but it was such a messy game. Our players weren't shooting well, the referees were not calling what they should have been calling, and the Evansvilled coach was just a bit too angry to be on the court-in my opinion. Overall. it was a good game. Another great sell out.
Instead of dispensing the tickets at the Knapp Center a week beforehand, they decided to dispense them at Olmsted two days before the game during specific time slots. You have to have your student ID to get a free ticket, and you can only get one ticket per student. Corie was unable to attend this game because she had to work, so she said she'd stand in line for me. I received a call from her saying that all the tickets had been sold out, so she didn't get one. I thought it was magnificent of her to wait in line for me, so I wasn't too bummed out. Then, I got a call from Greg saying that he got a ticket for the game. He had gone 15 minutes before Corie had gone and they only had 8 tickets left. When I told him I didn't get a ticket he said he'd give his away, and I said he should go. So then, when I came back from student teaching Greg met me at my car and showed me his ticket saying that they were different than the normal ones because they only said "student" on them. He pulled out his ticket and then snapped his fingers to reveal TWO tickets! He talked to the guy selling the tickets and asked for another one, and he said he can't do that. Greg told them that I student taught and I wouldn't be able to get a ticket and I would be upset if I didn't get to go, and they still said no. So, Greg walked away and one of the guys pretended to be on his cell phone and walked away from the table following Greg, tapped him on the shoulder and handed him another ticket! And that is how I got my ticket!
Greg pointed the guy out at the game and I actually know the guy! He student taught last semester! So he must have had sympathy for me. Lovely!
I need to finish planning for tomorrow. I get my second observation tomorrow! I think my last observation for this placement will be next week! Wish me luck!
