The new me!

The surprise I mentioned in my previous post was about my hair...

The Before picture...long-back view
The before...front view...kinda
AFTER!!! Right after the cut..its not set yet..but all my hair is GONE!!
The next day: front view with "FRINGE"
And another.

Okay, so maybe this wasn't so exciting for you but I've had my long hair forever. I've been growing it since last year and then I decided I needed a trim/cut and came back with a totally new look. I went to a salon and the stylist told me he was going to get rid of my "boring haircut" and find something fun and new. So then after like five minutes of looking through a hair style magazine he goes, "okay, found it" and starts cutting my hair and I'm like..."are you going to show me what you're going to do?" and he showed me..with the bangs! I questioned him about the bangs b/c I really didn't want bangs and he's like "okay, I'll cut the back while we think about it." Well, he never asked me again, he just cut them! So now I have "fringe." I kept calling them bangs and he said they're called "fringe," so fringe it is. It's quite different. I like it, but everyone's reaction scares me a bt. I can do so much more with this hair, but I look younger which is what I definitely didn't want. Otherwise I'm happy about it.

Onto funner stuff!
I went to the ICTM math conference yesterday and saw one of my professors there, so that was exciting. I got some really cool ideas and websites I can use for my own classroom. I even learned about podcasting, which I never really understood before.

Today I went to Habitat for Humanity. We were supposed to be there from 8:30-4, but bad weather came in and we were told we'd be able to leave at noon...after we went to another house. Des Moines set up is quite confusing. You have about hundred 14th Streets and 14th Places and we couldn't figure out which one we were going to go to. Our instructions were to go to 14th St. and it was a house that looked like the Dicken's, was 1.5 stories high and had a tarp on top of the roof with a certain address....well we found a house with the address, but it was 2.5 stories high, had a roof and had a satellite dish..haha, definitely not the house. So we drove around for awhile searching and found another Habitat for Humanity House and asked them where we were supposed to go, and they said it was on 14th Place...not Street. The guy in charge of our group wouldn't admit he made a mistake. Our group painted a few rooms, removed some doors, put mud up on the walls, and installed a new stairway. It was pretty awesome. Although, the place had absolutely no running water, the outside was slick as ever and it started to pour so we definitely found some leaks in the house. That was fun. I came back to campus and had lunch and slept until 4, did some homework, ate again, hung out a bit and now I'm back to work. I wish the weekends were longer.
Here are some pictures from Habitat for Humanity.

He's hammering away
Laura and Krystal were in charge of the stairs. So was Michelle, but she's not in the pic.
Me: Mudding it up.
Mixing the paint to get "eggshell".

Back to work! Night!

My dear Sonal, you have bangs/fringe! I'm proud of you, I think I probably would have decked the guy if he cut "fringe" into my hair. I spent too many years growing them out to have them again! Anyways, try to stay warm. Maybe I'll see you Sunday.
