STREET PAINTING!!!

RELAYS are here and you know what that means!? It means tons of fun and more fun and no encouragement to do actual work, but I will do it b/c that means I get to have more fun later. We had street painting this weekend and it was fantastic. Our square turned out to be much better than last time and my group was amazing. I had mostly freshman work on my square and a lot of seniors, and together we made it quite great. None of us are artists, so with our limited talents and outstanding abilities, we finished on time and had time to mess around and have fun. I have tons of pictures...as does probably everyone else that went. We got free ice cream too! We had a lot of prospective students come by and watch us paint and have fun too. If I had come to visit on Street Painting I would want to come to Drake too!

Today was suppsed to be the Relays Parade at 3 pm, which is different that every other year they had it. Ususally it goes on at the same time at drawing time for Street Painting, so if you're drawing you can't be in the parade or watch it. Because of this they switched to Sunday afternoon, only to find that rain was in our forecast so they cancelled the parade! The saddest part about it all is that when 3 pm came around, it was beautiful outside. It was perfect parade weather.

Rest of the week has events like the carnival (I think), foam party, Court Avenue which has live bands and a bus from Drake take you there, and other things that I don't remember.

Okay, I forgot to press publish and now I have something to write about.

My APO pledge mom and Greg went to IHOP for dinner and on our way back I almost hit a dog! It was dark out and I was driving down the street I see a lady with a dog and then the dog ran across the street! It was a little dog too! I got SO scared that I swerved my car and hit on my brakes so hard that I pulled a muscle in my leg! I was kind of waiting for the *thump* of the little dog, but it didn't happen (thankfully) and then I looked out my side view mirror and the little dog just kept running across the street. It seemed as though the lady was not the owner b/c she didn't even run after the dog as he ran across the street. I was a little freaked out. I was worried about Stephanie and Greg too, but they were okay also. Luck was just there b/c there were no cars behind me or on the oncoming traffic side and everyone and everything lived! ahhh, what a relief. THAT is my story of my night b/c that has never happened to me before.

Erin and I being happy!

The APO square. WE WON FIRST PLACE! I feel kind of bad. I had nothing to do with this square regarding contribution. I did come by and hang out with them though!

People being people at street painting.

The best freshmen ever!
