I've been hired by the Des Moines Public Schools!!!
This was my surprise in anticipation. I didn't want to say anything about it earlier because I was afraid I'd jinx myself, and I would have felt bad if I didn't get it. I had my second interview today and they were very impressed with me. They said that usually they meet together after the interview and discuss the interview and let the candidate know within the week if they've been accepted, but they said with me they had no reason to meet and hired me on the spot! (They also said this was the first time they've done this!)
Now, you're probably wondering how I got hired when I'm a Junior and still in college and not even done with my classes yet. Well, I applied through a program in which they try to get minorities out in the classroom and they pay for your tuition and books and with some other added perks, like a free laptop, as long as you agree to give equal amount of servitude back in the amount of years teaching in Des Moines. Considering how much tuition and books are and how great it would be to have a job waiting for me, I totally accepted.
There you go! For all of you who thought I was going to have a baby as my surprise, you were incorrect. That is totally not even possible. I got a job instead! Thanks!
Off to get some food and then class!
