I've been in Denver, CO since Friday night and I think I finally caught up to the time change this morning. Pretty ridiculous drive. 9 hours of nothingness. Well, I guess that isn't completely true, but the fact that most of our drive was trying to get across Nebraska, the majority wins. Nebraska is absolutely the most boring drive I have EVER witnessed, and seeing as though I've traveled all around the U.S. during my childhood years, I know this is the worst. I hate to break it to all those Nebraskans, but your state really doesn't have much to see. Also, I'd like to admit that driving through Iowa is more entertaining than Nebraska. Lastly, driving East is much better than driving West. Due to the boring-ness of the surroundings and the side effect of Bonine (motion sickness medicine), I slept a lot of the way. I was awake for the 210 miles I drive, which was quite interesting to say the least. I was driving a '92 Chevy Blazer whose speedometer didn't read above 85 mph! But surely, we made it safely and passed out once we got home.
The rest of the week was quite eventful. Saturday I met a lot of Greg's family because Greg's mom had a dinner at the house. Then, after dinner we drove to Fort Collins to celebrate one of Greg's friend's birthday. There I met some of his other friends. What a great bunch!
Sunday was spent sleeping most of the day and Monday was just about the same, except we went shopping and I bought NOTHING! I think I'm getting much better about shopping. I'm finally learning some control about the things I need and don't need. I think this is mostly because now I have to actually think about my future and where I will be keeping everything I buy when I finally get my own place to live. I'm a second semester Junior and my adulthood is really coming close. I don't care what other people say, but you aren't an adult until you can pay all your own bills and live on your own. So being 18 DOES NOT make you an adult.
Today was really exciting because not only did I get to watch an Emissions test, but we went to the Denver Zoo. I have a lot of pictures, but we're having some serious technological problems. Greg's computer doesn't have the software to my camera and my computer can't connect to the Internet because his house is set on a wireless connection and there's just a HUGE mess in getting all that straightened out. One day this will be easier. We got to the zoo kind of late because we started our day late. We had lunch with Greg's mom at the Rialto Cafe in downtown Denver and then headed over to the zoo, which enabled us to have about 2 hours there before it closed down. It's amazing how the animals know when its closing time. They all gather by the door, ready to go inside so all you see is their butts. By the time it was 4:30 (the zoo closed at 5), most of the animals were let inside. I don't think this is completely fair considering we paid to see the animals. Oh well.
It's late and tomorrow we're going up to the mountains with Greg's dad, so I have to get to bed. Till laterz, night! More fun to come, so stay tuned...this is Sonal in Denver! over and out.
