Weekend Stuff

This week was really slow. By the end of 3rd period on Friday I was ready to go home. It wasn't that the students were being bad, it was that portfolios are really frustrating to put together! Conferences are this week so all the students have to put their portfolios together, but the teachers have to make sure they have enough artifacts with reflections to put in there. Students were missing dividers, sleeves, actual artifacts. I tried to take it step by step, one artifact at a time but when students don't care to listen they don't get much done. Oh well. This week will only be three days! YaY!! I'm excited. THEN, I'm going home for the weekend to see my family. I'm hoping that going home will really put me in a better mood than I have been lately.

Jason is back from Georgia...well he will be until tomorrow morning. He came to see his fiance! and his old time friends. We all went to the World Food Festival in Downtown Des Moines. It was pretty cool. They had a live band and food from everywhere. The stinky part was that most of the vendors had beef on the menu and I don't/can't eat beef. When I'd go up to see what they were making, even if they had chicken, they were using the same tongs to cook the meat so I couldn't have that either. I ended up eating at an Indian vendor's place (how original) and it was pretty good. I have to say that no one will ever beat my mom with her cooking.

Anyway, Jason has known his fiance for less than a year, has been away from her for 8 months and now they are engaged. With that, he was criticizing Cammeo and me about not being engaged yet since we've been in relationships for years. OH WELL. We'll see how things turn out for him. I wish him the best of luck.

I have to teach about dictatorship, communism, and monarchy...all of which I don't know enough about or have enough enthusiasm to teach...but I will.

Apparently Drake Senate has changed all their funding allocations. Before, they never funded organizations that didn't have dues and now thats all they fund. Interesting. I miss Drake events and Greg and Josh don't do a good job letting me know whats happening.
