Happy 2008 Olympics!

I came home this last Wednesday and I will be home until Sunday. So far so good, but I have to say that there is one thing that I definitely don't miss about Chicago...TRAFFIC! Chicago's traffic is already so bad and mixed with construction, crazy drivers and too many cars equals disaster.
Today I went to see my grandma and she lives about 25 minutes away on a good day. Not today. The traffic was horrendous. Travel time was more than two hours to get there, which is entirely too exhausting. Yesterday we went to Wisconsin to visit my cousins and there was just so much construction and I was driving. There are certain driving conditions that make me uneasy and thats construction, driving next to trucks, and in the dark...all of which I had to do. Hated every moment of it.

Well today, I was supposed to go bowling with my dad but my brother ended up in the E.R. because he slipped on the Moon Bounce and hit his knee on his lip and ended up with a busted lip. It wasn't as bad as the counselor made it sound, but just for the sake of avoiding infection and possible necessity of stitches we were advised by the doctor to take him the E.R. He is fine, so no worries. Well, my point was that because of this we ended up leaving for my grandma's about three hours later than planned which makes all the difference in the kind of traffic you end up driving through. We got there at the time I was supposed to get back home and didn't leave until almost 9 pm.

We watched the Olympics Opening Ceremony. WOW! Beijing went ALL out for this. They really did outdo anything that was ever done before and now London has a big task on their hands to make it better for the next Olympic games. Chicago will face the same trial in 2016-I'm pretty excited about that.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day along the Lake Shore! YaY!
Bed time!!!

Goodnight!
