Update

Relay for Life is this Friday/Saturday. Greg is a guest speaker to reflect and share his experience about having cancer...is it bad that I didn't know that it was this Friday until today or that I didn't even sign up to go support him? He said he's going to wing his speech, which if that is the case then I think I don't want to attend for the fear of what may happen/come out of his mouth. I've got three days to decide, but I think I should probably be the good friend and go support him.

April is soon approaching, which means the best time at Drake is also approaching: RELAYS!
Unfortunately, as a student teacher I am not allowed to take a sick day during Relays, but no worries, festivities will still go on. I really hope it warms up quite a bit for the events because most of them are outdoors and the cold weather really does kill the spirits.

I started my new placement this week at the middle school for 6th grade math. I have to say 6th graders are very different compared to fifth graders and they aren't so curious or clingy. I pretty much blend in with all my students and most of them thought I was 16. The first day I walked in and some 8th grade boy said to me, "Who is you?"...yes, he said "who IS you", anyway, I think I must have glared at him because then he asked if I was a teacher. As I walked away his first yelled, "who are you subbing for?!" At least my day began with a few laughs. So far, I've realized that planning will be much easier because I need to plan for one class, my teaching day ends at 12:30, and the rest of the time is personal and team planning, until 2:30, which then it is personal planning again. My drive to school is about 3 minutes-it takes me longer to actually walk to my car, and I really love working with one on one with the "bad" kids in class. So far so good. I have a lot to accomplish in the next 6.5 weeks: portfolio, 2 external observation, 3 observations with my supervisor, meetings with my 2 TQP mentors for too many hours, mock interview, a real interview, and way too much for me to handle right now.

I'm going to bed. A good escape. Goodnight
