I had a good day at school today. Maybe it was because I was dressed in bright colors and the kids like that...lol, I have no idea. Yesterday wasn't so great because I had this strange tingling feeling through my face and then across the top of my head that made me feel like I was about to pass out. When I went home I laid down for a bit and then decided to watch Desperate Housewives for two hours, plan for a little bit, and then went to sleep. The best part was that Greg and Josh made me an awesome dinner and I think for the fact that I had an actual meal in awhile helped me feel better. All my students at school are hacking up a lung and I try not to breathe, but unfortunately breathing is a part of normal, healthy living.
My students are quite chatty and I realized raising my voice does SQUAT! So, I picked up the Goodrell Pride Clap and that works wonders! My pride time was VERY good today and I was really proud of them. I gave most of them a pride card...as long as they were doing what they were supposed to be doing. They love the pride cards. I think I'm going to start using them more often in class; Walk around and give them to students who are actually paying attention. This is my plan so my I have better behavior in class. I feel the thing I need to work on the most is classroom management. I was told that this is something that is learned and no class can make you an expert at classroom management until you experience it yourself. I think slowly it will work.
I really need to organize my things and quite losing things. I wish I had a bigger or another table for me upfront of the class. My table right now has a computer, ELMO, and a projector that takes up the entire table and then I have papers to pass out, markers, staplers, etc. I need to have a table closer to the door so the tray for homework can sit there and I can leave papers there for the classes to pick up. Grading is a pain in the behind. There is SO much to grade that I can't even begin to to complain about that enough. I also need to make up a phone log for my students' parents because parent emails and phone calls are becoming abundant.
Being a teacher is tough. T is for Teacher and Tough and I think this will be my motto for the rest of the year! Whoooo. I hope for DH tonight!!
Goodnight!!
